Danish is a Germanic Language developed from Old Norse in the 12th century, with texts existing from the 13th century. 3rd century runes have also been found. It had a strong influence on other Scandanavian languages during the Middle Ages due to the power of Denmark, especially in Norway where it was the main langauge for centuries.
