Kenneth III

Kenneth III succeeded Constantine III as king of Scotland. He was the son of King Dubh and was elected, under the tanistry system from among the royal House of Alpin. Some say that he was responsible for Constantine's death.
He ruled between 997CE and 1005, dying in battle, after attempting to avoid a tanistry succession by making his son, Giric, his joint-king in his lifetime. He was succeeded by Malcolm II, whom some accused of having had Kenneth killed in order to take the throne.
His grandaughter Gruoch was mother to one king, Lulach, and wife of another, Macbeth, having first been widowed from Gillecomgain, Mormaer of Moray.
More than this, history seems not to have recorded.
