Selviergard is a Barony of the Principality of Oertha and consists geographically of the Matanuska Susitna Valley including much of the Alaska Range, bound on the south by the Knik River and on the north by Hurricane Gulch


Selviergard is the newest Barony in the Principality of Oertha. In May, AS XXXVIII (2003), Selveirgard became a Barony, merging with the former Canton of Inbhir na Dà Abhann. The armory is that of the original Selviergard. Primarily of Viking traditions, Selviergard is host to many diverse peoples, being geographically between the Barony of Winter's Gate and the Barony of Eskalya.

The name was originally derived from a Scandinavian word meaning 'freehold' (not derived from 'silver guard' as legend might have it. Originally started by Flynx van Halen, the father of the SCA group Rolling Thunder, the group has since grown from a household to a full fledged Barony, complete with its own customs and history.
