The Gothic Arch, sometimes called the pointed arch, is probably the most distinctive feature of Gothic Architecture. The curved section of the arch is formed by the sections of two circles with a radius greater than half the width of the arch.
The Gothic Arch had greater load bearing properties than the circular arch, which it replaced.
