Dancetty

In heraldry, dancetty is sawtooth lines in parallel on either side of an ordinary, giving the impression that the entire ordinary is a large zigzag, 'dancing' across the field. Dancetty differs from indented in that the zigzags of an ordinary indented shift in opposition rather than running parallel to one another. It is usual for a line dancetty to have only three to five complete teeth, even if it extends the entire length of the shield. The use of dancetty on a single-edged ordinary or line of division is incorrect, however a field divided into multiple, parallel pieces (such as barry) may be depicted dancetty.
