Herbs

A herb is any plant which is grown for a purpose other than ornament, with the exception of fruits or vegetables. Modern uses for herbs include culinary, medicinal and aromatic. Uses that were more common in period were dyeing and ceremonial purposes. Herbs come in all sizes, ranging from small low lying plants to trees.
The most common culinary herbs, rosemary, thyme, sage, marjoram and oregano, are all tolerant of dry conditions which has lead to the misapprehension that herbs do not require watering. However many herbs require moist conditions in order to flourish.
