Giric

Giric ruled Scotland between 878 and 889, ruling jointly with his distant cousin Eochaid.
He is supposed to have murdered King Aedh to get to the throne although as son of Aedh's uncle (and a former King), Donald I, he had an arguable claim, whilst Eochaid did not, being descended through the female line.
He and Eochaid did not, it would appear, get on well, and in 889 Giric died, in battle, fighting a distant cousin Donald, son of King Constantine I, who then exiled Eochaid and took the throne as Donald II
