Order of High Merit

Order of High Merit is a term used by some SCA kingdoms to refer to specific subset of their awards or orders. The term is neither reserved nor defined SCA-wide.

• In the East Kingdom there are five Orders of High Merit. These orders have two characteristics which distinguish them from other Eastern orders; they carry an Award of Arms, if the person receiving the award does not already have higher precedence, and they are polling orders.
  1. Order of the Silver Crescent
  2. Order of the Maunche
  3. Order of the Tygers Combattant
  4. Order of the Sagittarius
  5. Order of the Golden Rapier

• In the Kingdom of Atlantia there are six Orders that carry High Merit. However the characteristics are slightly different from the East Kingdom in that they carry a Grant of Arms instead of an Award of Arms (if the person receiving the award does not already have higher precedence). They are also polling orders.
