Norway is situated on the west coast of the Scandinavian Penninsula, west of Sweden.
Norway was first united under Harald Fairhair towards the end of the 9th century.
When King Haakon V died without male heirs in 1319, Norway became united with Denmark. In 1397 saw this union merge with Sweden to form the Kalmar union.
