The spectacle helm is a multiplate, round bowled helmet that sported a spectacle like set of occulars to protect the eye sockets and allow vision. Commonly associated with Vikings.
Most famous example is the 10th century Gjermundbu helmet. This is the only definitively known extant helmet from Viking Age Scandanavia. Vendel helmets can have very similar constructions.
