The Peasants' Crusade (also called the Paupers' Crusade and the People's Crusade) was the opening part of the First Crusade in 1096CE. Thousands of poor European Christians, in response to the preaching of Pope Urban II, followed Peter the Hermit to Constantinople and Asia Minor, trying to reach the Holy Land.
