In most kingdoms "light fighter" refers to a fencer or rapier fighter. However, in Lochac the term is used to describe combat engineers, banner bearers, scouts, missile combatants (such as archers). They are also frequently referred to as lights, due to them often having less armour than heavy fighters.

Unlike heavies, lights don't do melee combat with rattan weapons. Hence, they have less of a need for more than the minimum armour. For this reason, they must be clearly distinguished from heavy fighters during mixed battles, so their helmets bear either a large fluorescent triangle or a clearly visible plume. Lochac favours the plume method.
