A flagon is vessel designed to hold liquids, particularly wine and cider although they may contain other liquids.
Holding about 2 litres, flagons have a lid and generally a lip for pouring. They are typically made of pottery or leather earlier in the medieval period, but the advent of cheap pewter made that metal relatively common.
Flagons were used in both regular households and in churches.
