Pike (weapon)

A pike is a long-arm weapon, resembling a spear. Pikes could be up to 17 feet long (although soldiers might cut them shorter to make them more manageable) and were principly used en masse. In the 17th century they were considered a noble weapon (certainly more so than the musket) possibly due to their similarity to a lance.

Pike (animal)

A pike is a fish, common in British streams. Its period French name was a luce, which is why pike appear in coats-of-arms related to the Lucy family.
