Congé

The congé is a dance step, especially used in basse dance. The gentleman bows, still holding the hand of the lady and returns her to the place from which you started. This is used in basse dances prior to the commencement of the retour (second part) of the dance.

Arbeau uses the letter 'c' to signify a conje in his dance manual orchesography.
