In 15th Century Italian Dance a doppio (pl. doppi) is a dance step that lasts twice as long as a sempio. A doppio left consists of a rise onto the toes followed by a step left, a step forward right, bringing the right foot only slightly ahead of the left, another step forward onto the left foot and finally falling back onto the flats of the feet.
