The area of [[Poland]] is 312,683km making it the 69th largest country in the world. The central parts are of the north lay upon the European Lowlands. High above the lowlands are a number of locked-in lakes that were formed during the Pleistocene Ice Age. All of these lakes are parts of what is called the Pomeranian Lake district, the Greater Polish Lake District, the Kashubian Lake District, and the Masurian Lake District. The coast is formed of many [[Dunes]], old bays (now coastal lakes), and lagoons. South of these lowlands are the provinces of [[Mazovia]] and [[Silesia]] which are sarrounded by ice age river valleys. Farther south are the great Polish mountain region which make up the border of Poland. |
