Cornwall is the westernmost county in England. It was a kingdom in its own right until the 10th century at least.
Cornwall formed part of Dumnonia, the western remnants of the Celtic Britons after the Anglo-Saxon invasions. Cornwall was the last part of Dumnonia to fall under Anglo-Saxon control.
