Shaft (Weapon Part)

A shaft is a term given to the handle of a weapon if that handle is particularly long as in a spear or polearm. This term is also often applied to tools.

Shaft (Archery)

A shaft (or period equivalent stele) is the wooden body of an arrow to which a head, fletches are attached and into which a nock would be cut.

Shaft (Engineering)

This is a narrow passageway that either connected a chamber to another chamber or the outside world for either travel or ventilation. eg mine shaft, ventilation shaft.
