The Sovereign Kingdoms of the Society for Creative Anachronism

The West was the first SCA kingdom to be established, in 1966 (though it does not seem to have been clearly identified as a kingdom until early in 1967). The date of the first event (1st May, 1966) is reckoned to be the date the SCA started, and the term Anno Societatis was coined to create a SCA-specific calendar. For instance, March 2004 was in A.S. XXXVIII, and 1st May 2004 was the start of A.S. XXXIX.
