Barley (Hordeum vulgare) is a member of the grass family, and is an important cereal crop. Cultivated barley is descended from wild barley (Hordeum spontaneum) which can still be found in the Middle East.
The juice from crushed Barley is dehydrated to make molasis and malt, which is used in beer.
