Double redirects
Yes double redirects stopping halfway is to be expected. Its done that way to stop redirects from going around in circles (since having the software check for duplicates in a, potentially, very long chain could make the server grind to a halt). You can find broken and double redirects using the Special:Maintenance tools. - Tobin 13:40, 17 Jun 2004 (EST)

My source for the minnesingers is a book in the main library called "The Minnesang". It is located at 830.1 in the U collection. 830.1 and 830.2 are good places to look for stuff on the Minnesingers, but you have to wade through a few German language books. My troubadour references are a little more diverse. Cheers Conrad Leviston 11:36, 29 Jul 2004 (EST)
Sekanjabin
Hiya! Sekanjabin is an unusual case because it would certainly classify as a cordial in period - a syrupy medicinal potion - but our modern usage is that of a beverage. I've made some good variations with spice and some fruit flavorings. I suspect any syrup in a well-sealed bottle would be great for field-expedient soft drinks at events. When I get time I'll do a bit on rosa solis which I researched for an A&S even last year.
WanderingSpy
Ah, yes. It appears I was in error when I wrote that. So very tired then. I'll fix that as soon as possible. Perhaps I should just edit the Middle page (that being my native land). So you (all of you, apparently) are in Lochac? How's the weather down there? Do you guys make the schlep to Pennsic or do you have your own sort of thing there?
Well, I majorly updated the Middle again (if it's too long, let me know). As far as I know, most people simply call it "The Middle". In official capacities, I suppose "Kingdom of the Midrealm" or "Kingdom of the Middle". Whichever the current ruler thinks sounds better. Let me know if there's any particular history information you want. I have time on my hands. WanderingSpy 20:36, 2 Sept 2004 (CST)
Round robin tournaments
Thank you for the link to your article. I have, however, one cavil, which is that, as quoted, your sysetm appear to guarantee that one of the people who fights last in each round fights first in the next. Accepting that, at some point, everyone does this, does this not, however, raise a fatigue issue ? --Simoncursitor 16:46, 20 Oct 2004 (EST)
- My "system" is only a way of working out the draw. It is up to the competition secretary/Lists Officer to decide what order to arrange each round in. And yes, one of the things I commonly have to make sure is that the fighters have enough time between bouts to rest and recuperate (and drink more water!). In Australia, this is an issue for any tournament style, not just round robins. - Cian Gillebhrath
User status
You are now a bureaucratic. This is because you have been a helpful, trustworthy user. I advise you to go mad with power and take petty revenge on those you dislike. No one has done this yet, and I think it would be cool. Your new power as a bureaucrat allows you to raise new sysops. Feel free to call them minions. Conrad Leviston 09:00, 27 May 2005 (CDT) (Only two of these sentances are actually true).
- This statement is a lie too :^) So does this mean I can put on my roleplaying hat and create an undead^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hsysop army, raising them from the kernel beneath me. BHWAHAHAHAHA!!!! Cough! Cough! Splutter! Splutter! And how do you go mad with power if your mind is already twisted? :^) - Cian Gillebhrath

update database errors

Small Grey Bear
There seem to be entries for this under Barony of ~ and Small Grey ~
Ought they, in some way, to be conflated ? --Simoncursitor 05:57, 6 Sep 2005 (CDT)

Request for pedantry
As you are the most active pedant on the list (I only say that because I know you will take it as a complement), I was wondering if you could help me by casting an eye over the pages I have earmarked as future pages of the month on Cunnan:Page of the Month. Do any correcting that they need so that they are nice and tidy for when they appear on the main page. Oh, and don't hesitate to add to my list. At the moment the Page of the Month thing is a bit of a one man show, which is not how I intended it to be. Thanks. Conrad Leviston 04:57, 2 Nov 2005 (CST)
- Will do when I have a better connection and more time. Presently on holidays. - Cian Gillebhrath
User 144
You've lost me. Do you mean am I going to keep pages in both categories as longsword is now in both the weapons and swords categories?--User 144 23:08, 28 May 2006 (EST)
- Yep. Likewise, gauntlet is in armour and full_harness but the second is a subcategory of the first. So the questions is whether longsword and guantlet should be a member of both or should they just be part of the sub-category? See also Cyprus. - (from home) Cian Gillebhrath
- I think both is better. Whilst a gauntlet is an integral part of harness it is still used at other times. I feel multiple categories is acceptable as it does link pages together. When a book is accessioned into the library they don't but it under a sole category, instead listing it under several appropriate ones. This also prevents squabbles (This page belongs under my category.)--User 144 15:51, 29 May 2006 (EST)

for fixing Eleanor of Castile -- Simoncursitor 21:06, 7 Apr 2006 (EST)
And further thanks for consistently categorizing and link-inserting my pages. I try to learn what links we have, but there are always ones that seem to escape me (sometimes because I'm so used to writing prose, I don't think what words might own links). -- Simoncursitor 20:56, 9 October 2006 (EST)

Nuns
I'm not sure how to post a reply, and maybe this is the wrong way to do it. I felt that the comments about celibacy and pets were just weird in that context. If you were interested in information about medieval nuns (or nuns in the SCA), would you want 50% of that information to be that they sometimes killed babies and had pets? KarenLarsdatter
Mixed Battles
I marked Mixed battles as RPOV for two reasons. First, the term itself seems to be a regional usage - at Pennsic for instance battles usually are designated as, eg. "with combat archery" not as "mixed battle." Second, it has some embedded terms which are also regional; specifically the terminology of "light fighter" and the specificity with which it talks about how to kill "lights." Again, using Pennsic as a high-profile example, the combat archery is full-contact (although folks can always just declare themselves dead, of course).
The combination suggests that the term is pretty specifically regional. AlexandreDavigne 11:13, 22 April 2009 (EST)
- I took a stab at your stab;-) How does Mixed battles look now? AlexandreDavigne 22:07, 22 April 2009 (EST)
- You make a number of good points. Something I just now noticed - there's a mention of heavies mixing with eg. fencers. I've never seen that, does that actually happen? On reflection, I think you're right that all combat archers must be armoured to rattan minimums; I should check that out with the SCA governing docs. AlexandreDavigne 21:44, 23 April 2009 (EST)

very much for the re-edit and linkage on Perkin Warbeck -- Simoncursitor 20:49, 27 May 2009 (EST)
Lochac Cooks' Guild
This is one thing I have been trying to correct for a number of years (one the Lochac pages as well) - it is "Lochac Cooks' Guild" have the scroll with signatures on it somewhere in the files - we did the whole presentation of charter and 1st kingdom.
I had actually made this change previously here - and yes I've been a bit slack - need to edit the charter and put in the proper mentions. Nicolette - I go by the name on the paperwork I have on file - but I will double check what I have.
Rhiceneth Admin, Lochac Cooks' Guild
Thanks
Cian, thanks for adding those pages/redirects.... always helpful for more linkage... also for fixing up all the random pages I start, it is apprecaited Donngal 15:43, 13 January 2011 (EST)
Heraldic Ranks
Well, although I'm not particularly active in the East Kingdom CoH, but what we have is "heralds." ;-) Actually, all warranted heralds here seem to be "pursuivants," and that's it ... I was more active in the Outlands CoH back in the day (and I just skimmed their current handbook) and they also don't seem to use Cornet, etc. terminology. I wasn't sure, and still am not too sure, how pervasive that system is, so I didn't want to aggressively start correcting without doing a little checking first.
