If you gain a title by right of arms then you do so by means of your strength and skill at combat.
Right of Arms in the SCA
In the SCA, this is the underlying principle by which a King, Queen or any other SCA ruler is invested with their rank. According to the Corpora:
- Sovereign and Consort: The victor in the Royal Lists and the victor's consort, respectively, after their Coronation or Investiture. (Glossary)
- Royal lists: Properly constituted armored combat tournament to determine the successors to the current royalty. (Glossary)
- ... Crowns or Coronets who wish to conduct a royal list in a manner other than individual combat must obtain the prior approval of the Board of Directors. (Sec IV.A.1)
