The Incipient Shire of Corvinia is an SCA branch located in Hunedoara city in southern Transylvania, Romania.
This will be the first shire to ever form in Romania. It was started in 2006 with the help of colleagues from the Shire of Ad Flumen Caerulum and Lord Barcsi Janos who donated the first memberships necessary to form a shire. Lord Arnulf and Lord Janos also helped a lot by their motivational encouragement and advice (and of course financial support, which unfortunately has dried up) as the shire formed.
The SCA and the Knights of Hunedoara
The Knights of Hunedoara theatrical group, which markets itself as the Romanian representatives of the SCA, is based at the Corvinus Castle. It regularly holds fighter training at the castle and puts on presentations for the tourists in exchange for a modest fee. The lords and ladies of this group often give presentations at public and private events. The knights has appeared many times in the newspaper and on television. And of course, being businessmen, they are paid for any performance or event that we attend (unlike the SCA which is normally regarded as a not-for-profit organisation).
