Feathers have a variety of uses in period:
- a feather in your hat for ornamentation
- goose feathers used as quills by scribes
- feathers in your mattress or pillow for comfort
- flights for arrows
In heraldry, the feather as a charge is by default an eagle wingtip feather. If you want a peacock feather on your device then you must blazon it as such.
