Crown (Regalia)
A crown is an ornamental circlet, signifying the position of the wearer.

The Crown is the position of any ruling Kings and Queens. Note that this is distinct from whoever happens to be King or Queen at the time.
When the royalty are coronated, they are said to have been crowned King or Queen.
