Coronet (Regalia)
An ornamental circlet, signifying the position of the wearer. Usually refers specifically to a circlet that indicates rank less than Royalty, such as Princess of a principality or Baron.
Historically, sumptuary laws often restricted the form and shape of a coronet. Many of those laws have been perpetuated in the SCA. For example:
- Strawberry leaves are restricted to Ducal coronets
- County coronets are the only coronets which may be embattled, except in the Midrealm and its offspring kingdoms (Calontir, Ealdormere and Northshield), as well as Meridies and its offspring (Trimaris and Gleann Abhann), where Viscounty coronets are also embattled, but silver in colour - gold is reserved for County coronets in those kingdoms.
- Coronets of six pearls indicate baronial rank.
Coronet (rank)
The Prince and Princess of a principality. Also used to refer to the Coronet tournament which is held to select them.
