In the [[SCA]], people participate in [[target archery]] and [[combat archery]]. There are different requirements of an archer for each.
[[SCA]] archers have similar [[armour]] requirements to those of [[heavy combatants]] and are distinguished not only by the weapon that they are holding but also by their [[helm]]ets bearing either a large fluorescent triangle or a clearly visible plume. These mark them as [[light fighter]]s.


The standard bows that they use have a maximum of 30 pounds at a 28 inch draw. SCA combat [[crossbow]]s use a draw-to-poundage ratio. Other light combatants use a variety of [[thrown weapons]].
