The troubadour Gaucelm Faidit came from Uzerche in Limousin, a member of the petty nobility. He mentions patrons in Occitania, France, Brittany, Hungary and the Crusader States. He probably went on the fourth crusade.
His 65 songs (14 with melodies) include one in French. His most famous work is a planh for Richard I.
