A workshop, in period can describe two things.

  1. The physical place that a craftsman plys his/her trade. This place contains all the tools needed for the craftsman to work.
  2. A unit within the guild system that refers to all the people that work togther under a master craftsman. You hear the phrase "from the workshop of... " often because masters often employed journeymen and apprentices to complete projects, several working on a single project which will bear only the master's name, or the workshop's name.
