"Skoal" is a traditional cheer in many Scandinavian cultures. In Northshield, skoal is used as a less formal cheer used specifically when toasting. The modern population in the geographical area that comprises Northshield contains a heavily Scandinavian base, leading to the deveolpment of the dual use of vivat in court/formal situations and skoal at feasts or around campfires.
