Pavise

A pavise is, essentially, a large freestanding shield designed to provide cover for archers and engineers from missile fire. Most pavises were a sturdy sturdy wooden shield on wheels, with a supporting leg projecting behind.

Pavises are not commonly used in SCA combat, owing to the ineffectiveness of missile weapons and the general lack of sieges.
