The Jewell House of Art and Nature by Hugh Platt was printed in 1594. It is split into five parts.

The first part contains 103 experiments, such as constructing a lantern which will not blow out, despite having one side open, a way to teach the ABC to children and keeping walnuts green.

The second part contains advice on farming. The third part contains obsevations on chemistry. The fourth part contains advice on moulding and casting. The fifth part contains new inventions.
