Lavender

Lavender refers to any plant of the genus Lavedula. They are an ornamental herb with distinctive, highly fragrant, purple flowers.

In the middle ages lavender water was used to prevent head lice. Lavender was often used for washing, and it is from the herb that we derive the word laundry.
