The true edge is the cutting edge of a bladed weapon, typically a sword. This may also be referred to as the 'long edge' which may result from the habit of some swords being sharpened for a longer distance from the tip rather than the false edge which might be sharpened for a shorter distance.

This edge of the blade is typically used when using any variety of sword and for single handed swords such as an arming sword, it would be the only edge used.
