Pearl

Pearls are hard, round objects produced by a number of different salt and freshwater sea creatures, usually oysters, and are cultivated or harvested for jewelry and the decoration of clothing.
In the 13th century, their use was restricted by the Sumptuary Laws. For those who could not buy or harvest pearls, imitation pearls could be made using powdered glass, egg white, and snail slime.
Pearls in the SCA
In the SCA pearls are used for a number of purposes, e.g. on the points of a coronet.
