This is the entry for dog fennel according to Askham's Herbal.

Amariscus

This herbe is called Dogge fennel, or Mythis, this herbe is much like to Cammamyle, for it hath a whyte floure as Cammamyle, but it stinketh, the vertue of this herbe is that if the joyce therof be dronken it helpeth the Canker and the Pyles, and the Emeraudes, and there be two spyces therof, the one hathe a whyte flour, and the other hath a yelow flour, & it groweth in corn.
