Twining

Twining is particular to tablet weaving - as it refers to the way in which warp threads twine around one another as the tablet is turned, forming a kind of twine that is held in place by the weft thread.

Twining can go left-right or right-left depending on card threading direction and turning direction. Twining direction generally changes multiple times throughout the weave, though there are patterns based simply on turning in one direction only (usually forwards) - these are referred to as threaded in patterns.
