Counter-ermine is one of the furs used as a tincture (colour) in heraldry. It consists of white (argent) ermine spots on a black (sable) field. As the name implies, it is the inverse of ermine.

In literature, counter-ermine is called ermines, but the longer name is used to help stave off confusion and typos.
