Blue

Blue is a colour which lies between green and purple on the light spectrum. In heraldry it is called azure.

Blue dye came from woad, and later in period, also from indigo.

In Roman Catholic iconography, blue was frequently reserved for, and used to indicate, the Virgin Mary.
