Liquer is similar to liquor in that it has been distilled. However, liquer (pronounced something like LIK-ewer) is of a slightly lower alcoholic content and a much higher sugar content. Liquers are ususally extremely sweet and syrupy, such as Schnapps, Goldshlager or Drambuie, and are intended for sipping.
