A Point of Difference is an SCA term for a distinct difference in heraldic display. SCA arms must display two points of difference from any other extant SCA arms. Colour change (even if more than one colour is changed) only counts as a single point of difference. In some kingdoms simple heraldry requires only a single point of difference.

For example, [[argent] a dragon gules can be changed to OR a dragon vert as a single point of difference. Argent a dragon vert in chief gules three escallops argent meets the two points of difference requirement from the first example.

This is related to the ten foot rule, in that the points of difference must be obvious from a distance of ten feet.
