Despite the fact that we have only one song and one vida remaining of Azalais de Porcairagues, she seems to have been regarded by her contemporaries as a trobairitz of equal stature to the Comtessa de Dia and Castelloza.

According to her vida she came from Montpellier, and modern scholars have placed her in Portiragne. Her amic was possibly Raimbau d'Aurenga, and he in turn seems to have used the senhal Joglar to refer to her.
