In the SCA, there are various forms of registration:
Heraldic registration
Names, arms and badges of personas and branches can be registered with the SCA College of Heralds. While they may be rejected by the College if they are not appropriate to be used within the Society (according to the rules of the College), such registration does ensure that no other persona or branch uses similar names or symbols.
Officer warrants
All SCA officers must be registered as holding a suitable warrant for their position.
Combat authorisation
All SCA fighters must be registered as holding a suitable combat authorisation for the combat in which they are about to participate. While this may be demonstrated by showing an authorisation card, the lists officers at large tournaments often have to access a centralised registry.
Attendance registration
Attendance registration is also commonly enforced at SCA events by the constables.
