Ger

A Ger or Yurt is a traditional dwelling of the nomadic mongols. Distinctively round, with a conical roof, these lattice-framed tents were traditionally covered with felt and often have an opening at the highest point in the roof, allowing for an interior fire. Yurts are quite warm and very resistant to inclement weather.

Although there is considerable local variation, gers have been use by central Asian peoples at least since the days of Genghis Khan. Modern variants covered in canvas or tarps are popular with modern reenactors, owing to their period look, ease of setup, lack of internal support poles and roominess.
