One thing to remember in SCA combat is that when someone hits you sufficiently enough in either the head or body so that it would penetrate your assumed armour, you are dead. This means you should fall over, and die.
Dying during SCA combat can be quite spectacular, and can be elevated to an artform - there are often prizes for the best death during tournaments. It gratifies your opponent, and entertains the audience. Don't make it into too huge a production, as it easily becomes irritating.
In certain circumstances, you may be resurrected to fight another day.
