A Flaming Cross was a period device sometimes appearing in Scottish heraldry. However, to modern viewers, a cross enflamed carries inescapable associations with the American racist organization, the Ku Klux Klan.

Such unpleasant modern connotations have caused it to be named a restricted charge by the SCA College of Heralds, and as such it cannot be used in SCA heraldry.
