The troubadour Gaucelm Faidit came from Uzerche in Limousin, a member of the petty nobility. He mentions patrons in Occitania, France, [Brittany]], Hungary and the Crusader States. He probably went on the fourth crusade.
His 65 songs (14 with melodies) include one in French. His most famous work is a planh for Richard I.
