alcdomrel Arming sword is a term applied to single handed swords with two edges used during the Middle Ages. This type of sword along with the longsword are typically associated with knights although many others possessed and used such weapons.

Erroneously called a longsword in the popular roleplaying game Dungeons and Dragons, the arming sword is designed primarily for use with a shield or a buckler.
