Muffler

Muffler is the term given to mail mittens that are attached to the sleeves of a hauberk. There would be slits at the wrist of this armour where the hand might be slipped out in order to manipulate objects. The palms of the muffler are leather to allow the sword or other weapon of the combatant to be securely gripped.
